Water
Try to drink at least two liters of mineral water. If the skin is dehydrated, dead skin cells are not actually paid, which can lead to clogged pores and even acne.
Reduce stress
Stress is one of the greatest precursors of acne, especially after puberty. Controlling stress can reduce the release of the stress hormone cortisol, thus reducing the severity of acne. If you suffer from stress regularly, learn to recognize early symptoms and take action. There are different ways to reduce stress and become more relaxed like Exercises & Relaxation Techniques.
Green Vegetables & Fruits
Increase the variety of green vegetables and fruits in your diet. The best way is to create delicious smoothies and juices of ripe fruit, have at least one salad daily even as a side dish with your main meal.
Reduce Caffeine
Caffeine increases the levels of stress hormones in the body so avoid coffee, tea and chocolates.
Probiotics
Antibiotics kill bacteria in your digestive system, which can lead to indigestion, constipation and reduced absorption of important vitamins, minerals and nutrients which can lead to more acne because your body is unable to dispose of waste effectively and toxins being expelled through the skin instead. If you are taking antibiotics for acne, it is important that you replace the friendly bacteria in your digestive system with good quality probiotics.
Prebiotics are foods that help restore the good bacteria in the gut these include honey, artichokes, onions and bananas. Take a probiotic supplement and eating prebiotics foods will help restore the levels of beneficial bacteria that are destroyed by antibiotics.
Use Natural Products
Many products related to skin care contain chemicals that can aggravate acne prone skin. By overloading the skin with harsh chemicals that strip natural oils from the skin the skin will produce more oil to compensate which can lead to more blocked pores and acne! Use products that contain natural ingredients like tea tree oil which is known for its antibacterial properties.
Reduce Dairy Products and Red Meat
Dairy products and red meat are difficult to digest for us. The skin condition is attached to the health of your internal organs. If you have trouble digesting high levels of animal protein, your body will not get rid of waste effectively and will be released through the skin such as acne. Red meat also contains high levels of hormones that can result in more acne.
Reduce Sugar and Refined Carbohydrates
Recent research suggests the diet eating refined carbohydrates (white bread, flour, rice, pasta etc) and sugar leads to increased insulin and growth factor called insulin-like IGF-1. This leads to an excess of male hormones that stimulate the skin to excrete large amounts of sebum. This substance stimulates the growth of bacteria responsible for acne.
Fresh Air & Sunshine
A little fresh air and sunshine every day will also reduce stress and increase oxygen to the skin. Even when the sky is cloudy the sun’s rays reach us, then 10 minute walk outside every day. Do not burn in the sun though apart from the increased risk of skin cancer, burnt and heavily tanned skin forms a thick layer on the surface of the skin which exfoliate quickly enough and leads to clogged pores.
