Acne Causes

All types of acne pimples, whiteheads, blackheads & cyst develop when our skin pores get clogged. The reason is seebum and oil in our skin. Our bodies produce more sebum when our hormones surge. As a result, teens get acne. This is why women often carry before menstruation. Since the hormones vary in the years before menopause, many women 40 to 50 years get acne.

What happens in the clogged pores determines the type of acne that we see.

A blackhead occurs when the sebum and dead skin cells clog the pores. Although the pores are clogged, its surface is still open. This allows us to see into the pore and to see a black color. Your dermatologist may be called a blackhead an open comedo.

A Whitehead forms when excess oil and dead skin cells clog pores and block the pore opening. Because the pore closes dermatologists call this type of acne a closed comedo.

The bacteria that normally live on our skin, thrives in the excess oil. Immersed in the excess oil bacteria numbers increase rapidly. As the bacteria multiply in clogged pores, pore becomes inflamed. The inflammation is what causes a pimple to see red, hot and swollen.

When the inflammation extends deep into the skin an acne cyst forms. Te most serious type of acne. Cysts can be very painful. People often see the kind of permanent scars after the acne improves.
